    Victorian Bathroom Restoration

    Kensington, SW75 weeks

    Project Overview

This sensitive bathroom restoration in a Grade II listed Kensington property required careful attention to heritage features while meeting modern expectations for comfort and efficiency. The original Victorian bathroom retained beautiful encaustic floor tiles and a cast iron claw-foot bath, but the plumbing was outdated and inefficient. Working with conservation guidelines, our team carefully removed and restored the original bath, upgraded all pipework to modern copper with concealed runs, and installed a thermostatic shower system that maintains the period aesthetic. We sourced reproduction Victorian taps and hardware to complement the originals, installed a traditional high-level cistern WC, and added underfloor heating beneath the restored tiles. The original tiles were lifted, cleaned, and relaid with appropriate heritage adhesive. The result is a bathroom that feels authentically Victorian while providing all modern conveniences.
